It started off a little crazy with Verne's hip re-replacement, and then Heart-Attack, but we are so thankful he is O.K. and thriving! In fact, it has given us an opportunity of summer fun and time together. Verne has mentioned several times that McKenzie has something that none of the other kids have had, and that is undivided time with one or both of us. And I can tell you we are taking every advantage of it! I get off of work at 11:00 AM most days and so that leaves the rest of the day to play. We took a day trip down to Hanford to the Superior Dairy to get ice cream, and then onto Traver to the Cheese Factory, what a fun day that was. The next day we spent all day at the lake, and my sweet daughter is one little hotdog when it comes to water sports. In one day she learned to kneeboard, wakeboard, and scurf, (she learned to water-ski last year. She definately is a Woolley through and through.

She then decided it would be fun to start taking friends to the lake with her, so on Friday she invited Katelyn over to spend the night we went to a movie that evening at Edwards. Then on Saturday morning we headed off to the lake with a picnic lunch from Subway. We thought we'd only stay a few hours...that was a joke. The girls had such a great time we didn't get home until 7:30. Katelyn learned how to kneeboard and seemed to really enjoy it, plus they did a ton of tubing. I LOVE my life!!!!!

Happy Birthday to My First Love!

For 20 years now I have silently celebrated my first husbands Birthday in my heart every April 14th. He Died on January 20, 1990 at the age of 28 in a tragic car accident. We had a 7 year old, a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and 7 month old twin daughters at the time. That morning my heart broke and I never thought it would ever recover. But with 5 small children, life moved on and moved on quickly. Life doesn't stop when you have 5 small children, although I so desperately wanted it to. He missed baptizing his first and oldest child and then of course every child after that. He missed their first dates, their proms. He wasn't here to see his only Son leave on a Mission. He missed their weddings.

This story isn't all sad, 10 years after his death, I met and married a wonderful man who is a fabulous Step-Father to my 5 children and we have had a beautiful daughter together. Who is the light of my life.

But on special occasions such as today, His Birthday, it's hard to not think back and shed a tear and remember what a special man that he was! It hard to believe he'd be 48 today, possibly have some gray hair. This year I decided I didn't want to silently celebrate anymore. I wrote letters to my older children and planned for them to get to them today, and told them what their Dad meant to me. I shared some personal memories that pertained to each of them.

One other thing that makes this an especially hard year, is his Mother who is a fabulous Grandmother to all 6 of my children was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer, and it has spread to her blood, bone, and liver. But being the strong woman that she is she is undergoing chemotherapy with the hope of halting this awful disease.

In no way does this take away from the Love I have for Verne and I am so very grateful that he understands this, and allows me to have my emotional moments and put his big beautiful arms around me and always tells me we will get through this. He stepped in when my childrens Father could not and I will be Forever grateful. I love you Verne and am so glad you are mine! It looks like Verne was bending over to give Chantelle a kiss. I couldn't believe my sweet daughter was married. She had been my sidekick for so long.

When her own Father passed away she was only 7, but she immediately stepped up to the plate and started acting like a little adult. She would tell her brother and sisters, be good, you can't say that, be nice to Mom, do what you are suppose to do. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive when I married Verne. I was afraid there would be some major clashing between the two of them. There never was. I credit that to the fact that they both are such wonderful individuals. When Verne and I married, He went to Chantelle and said, "I'm going to be the Dad now, you can go back to being a teenager." And that's exactly what she did without missing a beat. She never said how unfair it was, how she had been so grown-up for so long, how could I bring a man into the house after all these years. She was just happy that I was happy. Now maybe some of you can see why I call her my #1 Daughter. I love her beyond measure, as I do all my children...Chantelle just will always hold a very special place in my heart! So when she found her wonderful companion Robert and had her reception in the Roziers beautiful backyard, the moment I will cherish most is seeing those two dance.
